What Is a Medicine Degree?

Saving someone’s life is perhaps one of the most remarkable feelings in the world. Even so, not so many of us have the chance to experience this. It takes passion, a strong personality and years of study to be able to work in the medical field.

Pursuing a Medical degree is not only challenging and demanding but also competitive. Medical degrees are shaped for people who show high motivation and commitment as well as interest for sciences.

Throughout a Medicine degree, candidates are equipped with a wide range of competences, from practical abilities required for specialized hands-on tasks to communication skills needed to interact with the patients. Thus, any medical students will be able to take a simple blood sample as well as perform a complex surgical procedure.

Benefits of a Medical Degree

Undoubtedly, medicine is one of the most vital fields of work – therefore there will always be a high demand of workforce needed. The employment rate for a medical graduate student is of 90%.

Due to its diverse branches, graduates from a Medical course have a variety of career choices, according to their expertise. Nursing, radiology, anaesthetics are just some of the many specialities offered in this field. Regardless of the speciality, the most important aspect needed to be taken into consideration is that medical professionals are well-respected and well-paid all over the world.

Additionally, graduates possess a series of transferable skills, such as logical reasoning, critical appraisal, listening, written and oral communication and many others. These assets are sought and highly valuable in most fields of work.

Medical Degree Structure

Medical courses are usually a six-year commitment, but it can vary according to the university. Most of the modern universities integrate clinical education with basic sciences from the beginning of the academic curriculum, while traditional institutions divide them into preclinical and clinical education.

Most schools understand the importance of practical knowledge, especially in this field, therefore they encourage the students to observe professional healthcare practitioners. Another way to gain practical experience is to go to different clinics and receive specialised training, followed by actual practical work.

No matter the practices of the university, always keep in mind that medical courses are structured differently in every country. Therefore, medical qualifications gained in one country are not necessarily recognised in another country.

    Strenght and Courage.

My university stands out for facing diverse challenges during the day to day life of the country and yet, it seeks to bring out the best in students with their academic preparation. Without a doubt, I could not have chosen a better school for my professional training.

    Good teachers

I’ve been studying medicine for almost 4 years now here and what i like the most are the teachers. They are really professional and passionate about teaching us how to connect with our patients and be humble and the same time doing our best for giving people a solution to their sickness. I know it’s not east but I dont regret to decided to study in this university, despite of everything I’m happy with my decision.

    New challenges, new goals

University for some is more than just starting a new academic level, it can also be moving to a new city, having independence, meeting people from many parts of the country who, like you, go with a goal in mind, willing to face challenges.

Each step I took required adapting different evaluation methods, more demands, more content, it could become overwhelming at times but with the passage of time you adapt.

Some subjects are very good compared to others, although that depends on each person’s tastes. Several subjects are made special by the teachers they teach. Others can be a nightmare for the same reason. I wish they were all special the way out. much better

The city where I ended up studying, the hot weather is exhausting, you had to know how to endure it because that plus the exhaustion of the day you end up knocked out

At first moment, the goal seems far away but one way or another time will pass and you realize that you are moving forward, that is part of the motivation that drives you. At some point I consider stopping studying, I think like many, thinking that the The road was eternal and we had other plans in mind, but time passed and the objectives were achieved.

    Medicine in Venezuela

Studying medicine in Venezuela is extremely difficult due to the lack of resources and materials, the precariousness of the facilities and the shortage of qualified teaching staff. Students must face long study days, a demanding curriculum and the pressure of knowing that the lives of their future patients depend on their academic training. In addition, the socioeconomic situation of the country negatively affects medical students, as inflation and shortages of medical supplies make learning and clinical practice difficult. Despite all these difficulties, medical students in Venezuela show great determination and effort to complete their training and become doctors committed to the welfare of the population.

    Without resources in the course

The UDO is one of the best universities of medicine at national level in Venezuela, leaving excellent graduates in medicine, as experts and with a good preparation, but despite the level with which they leave graduates, the university still has a serious problem due to the situation of the country, as it is complicated by the fact of not having sufficient resources when studying medicine, and having to improvise some tools, or procedures at the risk of malpractice, only by the economic complexity that exists in Venezuela. It is really a challenge to be a university student in Venezuela and more if you choose a career like medicine, where it is necessary to have the correct clothing when practicing this career.

    From School to University

I started at University this year. I was very excited to the new experience of my life, but when I face what really it the university life, I’m not happy about it. So many people told to make studies in this university will be hard but it’s harder than people says. The another day I have to take my class in a classroom where made 41° at least, very warm, without ventilation, without electricity, I could even listened to the teacher because there were A LOT of people, more people than chairs, and the true is nobody care about the conditions of the classes. Obviously you can’t be focus 100%. I neither can bring my phone with me at university because it’s not secure, you can be a victim of thieves if you aren’t alert. Nowadays it’s hard to me to adapt to this environment, I hope things get better.

    my study house

University has been one of the best experiences I have ever had. Despite the ups and downs, I have not only had an academic education, I have also learned how to live, to have responsibility and commitment. It is not easy to live alone, to be in a part far from your home without help from anyone, and to have to be the head of all your decisions, and things like these are what shape you as a person. University life is an important stage that trains you to be professional and obtain maturity. My home of study gives me many lessons and I will always be grateful.

    Study in difficult times

The University of the East is one of the best study centers in the country, however it has been somewhat overshadowed by the country’s situation. Many of us have to choose between making copies, paying rent and eating since it is sometimes difficult to cover all expenses.
