Academics at Yale are intense, no question: midterms, problem sets, essays, labs ; the pace is fast. But what I appreciate is Yale seems to know that intensity isn’t sustainable without relief. The architecture is designed for this: courtyards, woods, hidden gardens, quiet libraries, and your residential college common room feel like places you can pause. I often walk through the Beinecke Library or sit by a courtyard fountain just to reset in the middle of a heavy week. The school isn’t trying to break you; it just expects high effort, but gives you some beauty and calm around it. I love it!
