I did my phd from yale University and teach as an assistant professor at Yale University, and was well acquainted with conversations and jokes with students. It was impossible to ignore them.
Most of the graduate students I worked with were excellent students with excellent grades. They have made the area livable, near the Yale University campus and hospital.
But few were smarter than most graduate students at public and select private universities I knew.
I had already changed jobs when I lived there. I worked for an architecture firm that worshiped Yale mysticism. why? Most of the company’s senior partners/owners were Yale heritage. It wasn’t because they were smart, it was because their parents went there. Many attended because their families gave Yale University a great gift. Here, millions to billions.
