at University of Miami

University of Miami has a large, outstanding campus that hosts a plethora of academic disciplines. Dormitories for freshmen were small and basic, but the RAs and fellow students were very welcoming. The cafeterias had a large selection of foods of excellent quality to cater to all palettes. The on-campus Sbarro’s, on the other hand, served quite possibly the worst pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life, tasting like rubber and cardboard; avoid it at all costs. Amphitheater-style classrooms were impressively modern, while the smaller classrooms for the sciences were utilitarian and left much to be desired aesthetically. The quality of the courses themselves were superb, as expected of a private university, but students who don’t come from an Honors or AP high school background may find themselves struggling with the course material. UM has many facilities and services to help students, whether it be medical assistance, academic tutoring, etc. Tuition can be very expensive, but if you have scholarships or grants, University of Miami is an excellent choice.
