The Thunderbird School of Global Management has been an autonomous part of the University of Arizona since 2014, but the institution itself dates back to 1946, when the American Institute for Foreign Trade (as it was then known) was established on the Glendale, Arizona World War II Base. The base had been purchased by General Barton Kyle Yount, who aimed to create a centre of education focused on international trade and relations.
The school has certainly met its goal, and continues to do so today with experienced faculty members and ambitious students. The school has also expanded its reach past Arizona and indeed the United States, now maintaining a global presence in locations such as Moscow, Geneva, and Dubai. Its nickname ‘a mini United Nations’ is well deserved, as even Thunderbird’s 43,000-strong alumni network is spread across the world in approximately 150 countries.Show more
