History

After the arrival of settlers in West Texas in the 1880s, there was a demand for a college in this area. However, it was not until 1923 that the law makers decided that a whole new university would fulfill the needs more than a branch campus. In October of 1952, Texas Technological College opened for classes for the first time. Back then, it was divided into four schools – Agriculture, Engineering, Home Economics, and Liberal Arts. The Double T logo was first presented in 1926 during the football season. Another fact is that Texas Tech University trained over 4,500 men during World War II. Slowly, the university started offering majors outside of technical subjects and in the 1970s the university started to invest millions of dollars in the campus in order to have buildings for different areas such as languages, philosophy, engineering, and social sciences.

Terrible Texas Tech University School of Pharmacy

Many students I encountered despised the school administration, staff, and faculty due to continued dishonesty toward the students in the form of outright lies, untruths, misdirection, coercion, bullying, intimidation, and incompetence. Many students could not decide to follow through to the career side due to the actions received at the hands of school officials.

    School Spirit

I recommend TTU because not only are the educational programs top notch, but the school spirit is robust. They have excellent grad programs as well as study abroad programs. The campus is one of the largest in the states and the architecture is beautiful.
