SF State is a university with fantastic professors that want to see students succeed. The campus is small and easy to get around and the student services, library, and gym are top-notch. On the downside, it is a commuter school, and it does not offer much in the way of community or student life. It is a school in which to get a degree and get out. For California residents, the tuition prices are highly affordable, but it is not worth going to SF State if you have no California residence. As a state school, the funding is low, and so the facilities and student life are impacted. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this school if you already live in the bay area and live with your parents, as you would save thousands a year by picking SF State over a private university or even a public one somewhere else in California. I would not recommend to non-California residents.
