Saint Michael’s College (often called Saint Mikes, or Smikes) is a small school in Northern Vermont. To go along with the tiny population of the school, the different majors also have an incredibly small population, with some being as low as 30 students. While the small school vibe may not be for everyone, it is incredibly easy to get to know others and form impressive bonds with professors and other faculty/staff even during your first year. Along with the positives of embracing the small school, though, are the negatives. Some things here can be incredibly cliquey, and a lot of clubs or events are appealing only to ‘type A’ personalities. Everyone appears to be loud, overly enthusiastic, and outgoing. While this could be overwhelming to individuals who are more quiet and introverted, if you’re able to embrace this and even mimic it you will have no problem making tons of friends and experiencing traditional college experiences.
