The Golden Middle
One of the most important things I considered when choosing Rutgers, besides academic excellence and a suitable major, was the fact that it provides the opportunity to be in the golden middle of everything. While it is not a top ivy university, it still is ranked very highly and is well-known (Top 15 Public Universities in the US), and is much bigger than many private schools I had gotten accepted to. Moreover, it provides many interesting and useful courses that are again very balanced. You can both decide to gain more profound knowledge about your major, and pick any other of the offered courses that might even completely be unrelated to your major, and find ways to combine the two in the future. Finally, being an international student, it was particularly notable that Rutgers has both many local and international students, which helps in both integrating with the local culture, and making many international friends and connections. Overall, Rutgers is a very balanced option for all kinds of people and majors. You can basically find anything you like and want here. The only reason for a 4/5 stars review are the numerous outdated residence life and academic buildings, together with the limited healthy dining options (hard to find healthy food on campus).
