Established in 1964 by the state of Florida, Nova University of Advanced Technology opened its doors as a graduate school for social and physical sciences. Its first class had 17 students present, and it was located on a campus in Fort Lauderdale. Some years later, in 1970, the name was changed to Nova Southeastern University and in the following year it received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.Show more
Nova Southeastern University (NSU) was an incredible place to grow both personally and professionally. The university offered countless opportunities and had a deeply supportive staff that truly cared about student success. I was highly involved on campus and made lifelong friends and mentors who continue to impact my journey today.
Through my time at NSU, I gained valuable full-time experience in social media, student support, and leadership. One of the highlights of my experience was being nominated as a member of the President’s 64—a distinguished group of student leaders who represent the university and engage with donors and community stakeholders. It was a tremendous honor and a testament to the enriching environment NSU fosters. Working at the Writing and Communication Center was an amazing experience, supporting graduate and undergraduate students on their essays and guiding them through their thoughts. Dr. Kevin Dvorak is to this day, one of my favorite bosses. Each of my professors in the Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Media masters program played a pivotal role in shaping who I am today. I will always appreciate the guidance they shared and love how they keep in contact with me, even 4 years post graduation.
I’m proud to be an NSU Shark and grateful for the foundation it provided me.
I genuinely enjoy Nova because it is a fantastic place. The arrangement of having a gym and cafeteria side by side is amazing. Moreover, they frequently organize events, which allow numerous students to interact and engage socially. The teachers demonstrate thoughtfulness by offering assistance even after school hours and being available for one-on-one conversations. Being accepted at Nova has made me extremely grateful because it is truly aiding in my personal growth every single day.
View moreNSU is a great university for students who are highly focused on their academic careers. With a place that offers various programs to specialize in their interest such as Razor’s Edge Programs as well as providing several Dual Admit Programs such as their Osteopathic School of Medicine, NSU is very focused on providing their students with the best resources for their education as possible. With smaller class sizes, students are able to have a greater relationship with their professors as well. Each one makes it a priority that the student’s understand the material in each lecture through an interactive teaching method rather than by rote. Unfortunately, NSU does not have a lot of sororities or frat houses, so it is very far from being a party school which could not be appealing to many students. However, it is very close to the beach and stores being very accessible for students. Overall, I highly recommend NSU for students interested in growing their careers and education at the same time.
View moreNSU Florida is a great school for those who’s academics are their highest priority. With access to great educational programs such as Razor’s Edge as well as several dual admit program such as the Dual Osteopathic Medical School Program, NSU successfully sets up each and everyone of their students for success even after their education. Personally, I appreciated the smaller class sizes and focus on interactive teaching methods rather than by rote learning. All of the professors have the student’s best interest and mind and makes sure every student understand the material taught in the lecture before they leave. I definitely recommend NSU for students who know and are sure about what they want to do in the future, but also for students who want to explore several career paths. NSU is very far from being a party school so there are no sororities available which may not satisfy one’s criteria’s for a school. Other than that, it is located fairly close to a beach and several shopping centers, being very accessible for students. Overall, I highly recommend NSU as an institution.
View moreWhen touring, the NSU was made out to be similar to living at paradise. With the warm weather, palm trees and pool on campus. They promoted a beautiful gym and boasted about great professors. After being here, I have realized that every word spoken was an exaggeration. Everything they said was special, ended up being a let down.
