I spent only 1.5 years on campus before transferring online full-time. My freshman year, we had a lot of support from both the staff and financially. The school gave us all a free laptop, backpack, and $750 credit towards textbooks. My professors felt that they cared for us, especially in our required freshman-only seminar class. Sophomore year, they offered none of the previous benefits to *any* student, and housing became critical and essentially told us that the likelihood of us being on campus as upperclassmen was near zero. I switched online for personal reasons, and it was acceptable, but there was very little connection to professors or other students, which is a detriment when it comes to wanting an improved grade or recommendation letters for grad school. In conclusion, if I could go back, I would go to a different university that has more of a sense of community and genuine care for the students. It’s not a bad school, but for what it costs, you should go somewhere you feel like you matter.
