I personally liked the resources CSULA offered, my favorite was the 24/7 Annex lab where all students were able to catch up on homework or projects for school in a quiet setting. Coming in I was apart of the EOP program and this program really helped give me the foundation/resources I needed to be successful and graduate. Everything was good just wished there was better food in the food court and more diverse clubs.
View moreMy opinion of the entire CSU system is that it provides the best opportunities for first-gen students. I attended CSU Bakersfield and then Fresno State, both public schools that helped me not just develop academically but also professionally.
View moreWhen you hear how big this university is you probably won’t believe it, not until you see it for yourself, seeing it yourself is a whole new experience all together. It has amazing landmarks (Japanese garden, the pyramid, some lovely layouts) to mention a few of the breathtaking sights. And as a public university, it is relatively inexpensive, meaning if you plan your budget right it’s quite affordable. In terms of accommodation there are student apartments around to help reduce the financial strain. And for each subject of study the institution has separate sections with the required buildings to suit. For students, in addition to the student apartment reducing the costs, the long beach bus service is also free. I like to think the teachers and the staff are efficient for educating young minds. In another addition to making life easier for students the medical facilities and student recreation centers are free too. I don’t know what else you’d be looking for in a University to be honest.
View moreI am a biology student and the program offers a variety of courses to explore the many aspects of the major. For example, I took a course in ornithology and it was so interesting for me that I continued to learn more about birds and bird watching. There are several programs available for students to do research and clubs to help you get involved in internships and community service. Overall, the workload can get intense and overwhelming, but their teachers are willing to help and volunteer their time.

View moreMy Cal State is beautiful. It is an amazing commuter school. BUT that can get hard and expensive. I don’t have a job but have applied to the usu in campus. I honestly wish there was more off campus housing and at a low cost .they need to make more options available for students. I live in Santa Monica California and know many other students that live further than me WE HATE THE COMMUTE! but love the campus maybe if there were more options to do better things in campus we would be interacting more in school. The faculty is really down to earth and so nice to everyone. I am Rushing Alpha Phi so thats very exciting.
View moreWhen attending the school I got no guidance from counselors and when I did I was provided the wrong information. The school clearly cares more about the money they obtain from the student and that can be see by there “State of the art” gym facility for students. The Deans are paid to do nothing. When I was put on academic suspension I wanted to appeal the decision. The Dean literally told me “wow that’s a first not one single student has ever come to see me, but there’s nothing I can do the school is running on a computer program which at random decides who will be out or not. I’ve seen people with 1.0 gpa stay so it’s up to luck.” My education was derailed after this I got straight A’s only to be told there was nothing to be done. They have such a high acceptance rate because they know more then half of those accepted would be gone by the years end anyway.
View moreI thought when I started college, I was going to experience the science department to its fullest but no. Most of it revolved around professors being rude and unhelpful and being allowed to behave that way because they had tenure. Then you had your other biology professors who were more interested in their own research than teaching. It just overall lacked enthusiasm.
