Student review [#42032] for General Studies

Transferring to IUE was easy, which was already an insane perk compared to two other universities I’d looks at transferring to after getting my associates. The best part was the general studies track advising team. I had an odd assortment of credits, and even though I was going to be online, they were able to set me up with exactly what I needed without confusion. They were well organized, thorough, and provided me with as many options as possible for courses.
The most irritating part of IUE is that because of the IU affiliation, the campus holds itself to a very “large college” standard, when in actuality it’s a very small campus that does not need to keep that mindset. In reality, the campus could have many more students if it realized that Ivy Tech (right next door) caters too ALL students. At Ivy Tech, you see students of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life because they make classes and schedules as friendly as they can to all types of students. At IUE, they’re still catering primarily to 18 year olds fresh out of high school. Probably not an issue for most as this is when most will choose college, but it definitely seems very unwelcoming if you’re a non traditional student.
