The benefits of earning a degree from Harvard Extension School are obvious. This program is designed to promote the continuing education of non-traditional students. The program offers on-campus courses, online courses, summer sessions, and hybrid courses that help accommodate non-traditional students. The program allows non-traditional students to earn a bachelor’s, master’s, graduate or professional certificate from one of the world’s most respected universities — yes, that’s a Harvard degree. The disadvantages are less obvious. Some fields of study offer a smaller choice of courses, but it is possible to obtain a special student status that gives more choices in courses. Overall, the opportunities available to non-traditional students make the program one of the best in the country. The university’s requirement is two semesters, creating problems for students outside of New England. “
