The Fine Arts department has many advantages: a major in visual arts at Harvard has its good and bad sides. The best part is that all the art supplies you use in the classroom are provided and are completely FREE! Even if you are a senior, the department will cover the costs of writing your thesis. No other art school I know offers free material or thesis funding. Your classroom is your study space that can be used any day of the week which is also a plus. The classes are small (no more than 12 students), but this also means that it is difficult to find a place there. The department is very small which gives it a personal character but also limits the range of courses offered and the range of artistic techniques taught.
