GMU is arguably one of the most diverse schools in Virginia. There are hundreds of different races, ethnicities, religions, political beliefs and languages. GMU is proud to accept and celebrate this diversity. GMU wants to work to eliminate those negative stereotypes that are so harmful to people and bring about a shared understanding and acceptance of differences between people. I can’t tell you how many conversations I’ve had in class that have helped me break down those stereotypes and open my eyes to the truth about every single person and their beliefs. It’s not uncommon to walk around the campus and hear at least 10 different languages being spoken. Everyone I’ve met is very accepting of differences and actually celebrates those differences instead of making fun of them.
