My first year at Duke was a rollercoaster of loving and hating it. The classes are amazing and there is a huge selection to choose from. It’s pretty easy to get into the classes you want, and the professors truly care about you and your learning. Of course, the introductory classes are larger and not as great, but the specialized classes are great. Navigating the social scene can feel tricky at first. It might feel really dominated by Greek life, but if that’s not your scene, there is a ton of amazing people and groups to find your place in– it just takes time. There is a definite party culture, and be prepared to get emotionally invested in basketball, whether you like watching sports or not.
