My experience with Boston University has been not justified as here it’s mandatory to maintain at least 75% attendance in which they expect us to work an internship to get an extra credit score which is just not possible. Yeah BU has a lot of pros as well like everyone starts to respect you in your fam when they get to know you go in “Boston University” lol but in my opinion, there shouldn’t be an attendance bar for the students to maintain.

If you’re pre-med, be prepared for the teachers to make you struggle early on, they will put classes and assignments just to weed out inexperienced or not-medically minded students (even if you’re not premed you generally are encouraged to take these courses). If you’re studying biology with a concentration in behavior, ecology and conservation or just general biology you will be left to your own devices. If you’re lucky you will have a great advisor, but you will still have to put in all the research and planning yourself if you want to do anything non-academic with your future, or if you want to find REUs or other opportunities. The TEP and BUMP programs are great research experience for anyone leaning towards research in ecology. BU has great abroad programs and has several tailored for science majors, so if you want to spend a semester abroad it’s always possible! But you have to be very self motivated ans directed and already know about research opportunities and internships that you can get involved with because the BU biology department does very little education and imparts very little knowledge on these topics.
