When I started the foundation year, I struggled to see the relevance of some of the subjects to my media degree. At the time, they felt disconnected from what I wanted to pursue. However, as I moved further into the course, I realized how important that foundation was—especially in developing critical thinking, research skills, and a broader understanding of media in context. One standout for me was how the Foundation Year was structured, which really helped bridge that gap. Overall, while the start felt unclear, the foundation year ended up being a useful stepping stone for my academic journey.
