BIMM Institute is one of the greatest institutions to attend when wanting to further your music or entertainment studies through a more academic approach.
Learning by doing is something that stands out as soon as you start your journey at BIMM. Having the opportunity to showcase your talents and what you have learnt through end-of-year projects, that summarise your studies and experience during the years, is key to start positioning and imagining yourself in the industry.
Professors have an amazing professional background in the industry, which leads to a lot of networking chances and stories. However, they can sometimes be unreachable, as they are professionals first, and academics second.
Campus life is great, with several activities and gatherings organised throughout the academic year. But more student associations could definitely be in place.
Mentors and graduate students are within easy reach for consulting on the programs and different outcomes after graduation.
There could be a wider internship offer, however, BIMM encourages and supports students taking the lead and launching student-led programs. Consultation, contacts, funds, help, information and more are available when developing this kind of initiatives.
Overall, BIMM is really great institution that will help you further your academic knowledge on the music and entertainment industries and encourage students to give their all.
View moreI loved the course and the lecturers but i would definitely say that communication could have been better. Overall i would definitely recommend to someone looking at working in events, but less so to someone wanting to work in marketing / business roles.
View moreCourses are lacking a lot of content, most lessons feel improvised. Some lecturers are really good at what they do, but its a hit or miss, most of them do not really care about teaching music. Only good thing about BIMM is that you will meet very good musicians that you can play and learn with, as you will not be getting much content from your lessons. If you are already an experienced musician you will get a lot from the networking opportunities BIMM provides, but if you are looking to seriously improve before going out to the professional music world you will find yourself stuck within a couple months of starting the course.

This course is clearly not worth the 9k a year it costs to take it and I would not recommend it to anyone else who may be interested in taking it. Firstly the course content was subpar and was very restrictive in terms of creativity, I believe that independent study from online materials would have covered the same amount and for minimal cost.
Secondly the support and leadership from those above was sorely lacking and I felt hindered by the poor communication over timetable changes and feedback as well as module delivery. This negatively impacted my performance. For example during first year , I was involved in a disagreement with my tutor over theory concepts and my input over this was not considered and this was never resolved in a professional manner and subsequently affected the teacher-student relationship.
I also believe that the culture at Bimm is not centered towards the student, which is definitely a reason to be cautious about taking this course.
Overall I would recommend avoiding investing time and money into this course as most course content can be learned online and the leadership and teaching is definitely not worth 9k
