I’m currently a second year student at Surrey and so far I have loved this university, it has a huge campus and I would definitely recommend living on campus if you get the opportunity. There are lots of places to hang out with friends, grab some food and a lot of study spaces too. Overall it has a very campus like feel and the club (Rubix) on campus makes nights out safe and convenient since it’s probably a 5 min walk back to your accom.
The staff are always really friendly and approachable but that is dependent on your course – I study Media and Communication which comes under the sociology department and so far the staff have been really friendly and helpful. The career resources are very helpful, there is a dedicated team and you can book an appointment with them anytime for anything from advice to job specific cover letter reviews and help with CVs and interviews.
However Guildford as a town isn’t really a student town, there are clubs, bars, restaurants and cafes in town but it is more of a residential area especially compared to the London atmosphere. If you aren’t living on Stag Hill campus you should definitely think about bringing a bike or a car if you have one. The buses aren’t the most reliable and can end up being quite expensive if you use them everyday. It is worth getting a bus pass however that is £56 for a 28 day pass which isn’t exactly affordable.
