The University of Salford is really a university of two parts: the media department and everything else. With media-related subjects taking place in their new media city complex, which is separate from the main university complex, you gain a different experience from the rest of the university. Is this a good thing? Yes and no. On the one hand, you get a brand new facility to explore with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. On the other hand, you are isolated from the other portions of the university campus. I never stepped foot into the old building as I never had a lesson there.
Despite this, if you are doing media centric studies, Salford is a must. Media City is England’s new hub for television – both the BBC and ITV have offices there. Hence, you can find amazing opportunities, contacts, and activities to go alongside your studies.
