This university is well-run and has excellent physical facilities, but it is severely missing a university on-campus counsellor, especially given the high prevalence of mental health disorders in the fine arts department and across the board. The university is making an attempt with its mind your mood programme for mental health, but offering six free counselling sessions with an off-campus institution is simply not enough. It makes it more difficult for students, especially those who are new to the city, to call out for help when they need it. For want of a better description, I find the general atmosphere at the university to be extremely “non-community.” Students prefer to isolate themselves and there is a lack of a social climate, all of which are potential contributing factors.
