In February 2026, I graduated with a Master of Science in Computer Science and Technology (Data Science pathway) degree, completing my studies at Ulster University Birmingham with Distinction (overall 71%). The programme gave me an outstanding grounding in the field of data science (including machine learning and artificial intelligence). My master’s dissertation was on the subject of crop disease classification (using lightweight deep learning models) and I scored 70% for it (it has since been published in an academic journal). The supervisor was very helpful in his support of me during my research project and he provided guidance through all stages of the process. All the lecturers were friendly, supportive, and approachable. If you’re a student looking for a good quality graduate education in computing or data science, I highly recommend Ulster University Birmingham as a study location.

Great location, brand new building, handy study areas, great food and coffee.

Lots oof student accommodation nearby and fantastic public transport routes.

Very safe area and lots of shops like Tesco’s on the doorstep.

My experience at Ulster University has been very positive. The MSc Marketing programme combines solid academic content with practical projects that prepare you for real-world work. Lecturers are supportive, approachable and genuinely care about students’ progress.

The international and inclusive atmosphere makes studying here engaging and collaborative. The only area for improvement is the career support service, which could offer more personalised and proactive guidance for students.

Overall, Ulster is a great choice for those seeking quality teaching, global perspectives, and a friendly learning environment. I would definitely recommend it.

As an international student, I have been able to navigate how the education system works here with the help of the school. I was worried when at first, but it has been quite easy. There are events for everyone to have a sense of belonging.
