A business cannot survive if its products are not marketed in the proper way. Luckily for all the businesses out there, the number of candidates wanting to pursue a marketing career is growing tremendously.
The aim of this degree is to help students anticipate, manage, and satisfy customers’ needs and wants. By doing so, they will be able to effectively communicate the benefits of any business product to the targeted market.
Due to the fact that marketing is a complex industry, which tackles many areas ranging from market research to advertising and promotion, this degree focuses on all parts of the process before concentrating on a particular area of study.
Good news for marketing graduates! If you did not know yet, marketing is an essential aspect of all types of businesses, from all sectors of activity. Thus, all of them rely on marketers to promote and sell their products. A high market demand comes with many job opportunities available.
According to Labor Department Findings, graduates with a marketing degree can earn 98% more per hour than the ones working in the industry without having a specialised degree.
Furthermore, students are equipped with transferable skills, such as excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, planning, data analysis and so on, that can be used in other industries too.
Marketing degrees can be studied either as Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). The major difference lies in the presence of more scientific and technological aspects, which are commonly seen in a BSc rather than a BA.
Like most degrees, marketing courses last between three and four years, depending on the university. However, there are institutions which give students the possibility to do a two-year associate’s degree – also called a ‘foundation’ degree.
Even if graduating from both degrees qualifies candidates to work in this industry, a Bachelor degree has higher chances to lead you to well-paid jobs.
As a student at Northumbria in my second year of university, I can say northumbria has made my university experience excellent! They offer a wide range of academic programs, as well as societies for making friends and being part of the community. The social life at Newcastle is always lively, making it really easy to socialise. The advisors at northumbria are always a great help whether it be for mental health, or career advice. The university makes sure that when you leave you have all the information to go onto a successful career. Not to mention it is currently the university of the year (Times Higher Education, 2022).
View moreNorthumbria has a great culture and had extremely helpful tutors on all of my courses. They have a 24/7 help service which will solve any issues or queries quickly.
The course was enjoyable and it is fully of great people from across the UK and internationally. Not a bad night out too.
I would recommend it.
View moreAttending Northumbria University for the past few years has been a very positive and exciting experience. Campus is a very welcoming environment as there is always events, stalls and activities going on which bring students together and create a sense of community. All staff are very helpful and supportive, so I have never felt lonely or lost. Campus is filled with different cafes and shops where you can socialise and meet different people creating a happy atmosphere. I have very little negativity towards Northumbria University as it offers all the necessary facilities and help needed for students to enjoy and succeed in university. The library is one of the best facilities on campus due to how modern and big it is, and the gym is very impressive also. However, a girl only gym would be appreciated by many students. I would recommend attending Northumbria University as it’s very welcoming and offers many opportunities and support for students.
View moreMy opinion about this university is better facilities about study, great faculty, team work and supporting students for all situations.
I like one thing about this university is professors who are always be helpful to each students rather it’s face-to-face class or online class. Only one dislike which is about slow response from compliance team when it’s emergency.
Of course, I would refer this university to my friends.
I have recently started my studies at Northumbria university, and I am satisfied with the quality of teaching and how the modules are structured. What I find most impressive and essential for developing different skills are the business cases and the residentials. They are perfectly organized and helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses and improve my technical and interpersonal skills.
The only issue I faced during my studies at Northumbria Univesity was the student portal, from time to time, does not allow access to the studying materials due to technical problems. Even solving that throw a student support team takes a lot of time.
The course structure & delivery of the modules could be improved. Guest lectures who have practical experience in the field would also be helpful. Lot of internationals in the university which helps in learning about other cultures though.
View moreI’m doing MSc in digital marketing here. Class of 22. They have got a beautiful modern campus with all the facilities that a student needs. My main is with the program structure. In such a short course of one year, (to be specific 8 months cause it includes dissertation/consultancy in the last semester) they are teaching all irrelevant courses (leadership/research proposal). This 8 month is too short to learn a skill, moreover expect one course (matrics) the rest don’t have any practical implications. So disappointed with the course module. Furthermore, two of the faculty stuffs of this program are infamous for their racist behaviour. All in all, it has got all the potential to be a world class university but they need to rectify their course modules to have a greater impact in the students life.
View moreAs an international student, I have to pay higher tuition fees & other costs as well. However, this master’s programme disappointed me. For students who have little or no experience, maybe they would think this programme covers a lot of knowledge for them. However, I have 8 years working in Digital Marketing, so I can evaluate the amount of knowledge delivered in this course. This course was advertised to become an SEO expert……If you think that you only know some basic terms of SEO, then you could be SEO experts…..I have nothing to say. What was delivered in this course is what you can find from online free courses on the internet (Hubspot, Google certificates, etc). Therefore, It is a waste of money for me to study this Master’s programme.
View moreThe programme has a very good mix of theoretical and practical modules. It could be much more practical and organised but overall it was ok as we had the chance to develop a portfolio of work to show to future employers.
View moreI had gone into the course not knowing anything. I had come with a photography degree and just wanted to learn about the marketing world. Overall I really enjoyed the course, I learned a lot & made some amazing friends along the way! 🙂
