What Is an International Business Degree?

Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.

International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.

Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.

Benefits of an International Business Degree

A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.

The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.

Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.

International Business Degree Structure

International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.

The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.

    Teaching, campus and events

I’m an international student, and I’m amazed to be attending Newcastle University. Its campus, which is spread out across the city and is simple to get to, is its main draw. The lecturers are really approachable and helpful. Although it’s a different kind of learning, our professors constantly assist us in understanding the material. The university frequently hosts events that benefit our academic performance and motivate us to engage in more activities.

    Great experience

Well, Newcastle has a reputation for having great nightlife. There are some great nightspots where people can relax and unwind. The people here certainly know how to party, and some of the events are really wild, with the best spots being the nightclub Dance City and his spot, a student-only hangout that serves ethnic food for a small fee. , Munchers. The university itself has a great bar that hosts various events throughout the calendar. This is Newcastle as students saw it in their first two months or so.

    My experience at Newcastle University

The programme is a blend of both theoretical and practical learning. Although, I wish there was more practical coursework. I just completed my first year but I’m confident that by the end of my course, I’d be able to gain skills that’d help me enter the job market.
The professors are there to guide you, however, it has to be you who approaches them and not the other way around. The best thing about the university is that they have a very strong support network.
There’s a large number of international students and LGBTQ communities as well so you’d always feel accepted.
Newcastle, in itself is the best student city. The living cost is quite low, cheap accommodation isn’t hard to find and the city is easily navigable by foot.

    Lost sometimes

The uni was in a good setting, but the course ended up being very heavily disrupted by politics. Sometimes we were left to feel like we had to fend for ourselves. Some lecturers definitely really cared though.

World class education in a world class city

I loved my 4 years at Newcastle University. The city of Newcastle is amazing and super convenient with everything within walking distance. Although it is a small city there is always something going on and there are cool bars and restaurants popping up every week. It goes without saying that the nightlife is incredible but even if that’s not your cup of tea, the beach is 20 minutes away on the metro and the county of Northumberland is a stunning area of natural beauty. In terms of the university, the libraries are very spacious and have all the facilities you need. As a modern languages student, I had access to the Language Resource Centre and the interpreting labs which are equipped with the latest software. The teaching was of excellent quality and I felt like I was well supported by my personal tutor and the careers service. There are also lots of sports teams at Newcastle University and I was lucky to be part of the Boat Club and was able to meet so many people who loved the sport as much as I did. Overall, if you want to study in a vibrant city and get a good degree from a Russell Group university, I would definitely recommend Newcastle University.

    Very welcoming and engaging

When I came into university I was honestly surprised at how much support there is for students, and how encouraging the university itself is towards any initiatives, extracurriculars, and other activities. There is always someone you can turn to in case of any issue, whether it’s academic, career or even mental health issue. I knew university is perhaps the most important decision one makes in their life and I’m glad I made the right one.

If you want a university, which you can call home - this is it!

Apart from being part of the Russel Group and in top 10 for the course the past few years and all the statistics you can read on the uni website, the atmosphere which it provides is one of a kind! Newcastle being a semi-big city means that you get the best of both worlds – the metropolis feels the coziness of a small town. Services provided by the uni are exceptional – Careers Service is just phenomenal with providing workshops, courses, etc. for enhancing your employability skills and actually helping you to find an internship during your studies! (I am undertaking an internship as such now).
Moreover, you get constant help and support from lecturers, seminar leaders, university staff, so you never have to worry about being far from home and your parents (international student here) northerners are really friendly and helpful 🙂

    Beyond any expectations

Whatever I say would be merely enough for the overall experience I have had so far at Newcastle University. There are opportunities for everyone and everything, societies, socials, new experiences and chances to make friends for life. Balanced study/practice ratio to some degrees, some purely theoretical, it is the sole responsibility of the student to make their choice of what to do exactly. From the point of time, if I could go back in the past and decide whether I should come here or not, I would still make the same decision.
