A business cannot survive if its products are not marketed in the proper way. Luckily for all the businesses out there, the number of candidates wanting to pursue a marketing career is growing tremendously.
The aim of this degree is to help students anticipate, manage, and satisfy customers’ needs and wants. By doing so, they will be able to effectively communicate the benefits of any business product to the targeted market.
Due to the fact that marketing is a complex industry, which tackles many areas ranging from market research to advertising and promotion, this degree focuses on all parts of the process before concentrating on a particular area of study.
Good news for marketing graduates! If you did not know yet, marketing is an essential aspect of all types of businesses, from all sectors of activity. Thus, all of them rely on marketers to promote and sell their products. A high market demand comes with many job opportunities available.
According to Labor Department Findings, graduates with a marketing degree can earn 98% more per hour than the ones working in the industry without having a specialised degree.
Furthermore, students are equipped with transferable skills, such as excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, planning, data analysis and so on, that can be used in other industries too.
Marketing degrees can be studied either as Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). The major difference lies in the presence of more scientific and technological aspects, which are commonly seen in a BSc rather than a BA.
Like most degrees, marketing courses last between three and four years, depending on the university. However, there are institutions which give students the possibility to do a two-year associate’s degree – also called a ‘foundation’ degree.
Even if graduating from both degrees qualifies candidates to work in this industry, a Bachelor degree has higher chances to lead you to well-paid jobs.
Overall, my experience at the University of Greenwich was positive. The programme offered a good balance between theory and practical learning, and many of the modules were relevant to real-world applications. Several lecturers were knowledgeable, approachable, and willing to provide extra support when needed, which made a big difference to my learning experience. The campus facilities were generally good, especially the libraries and study spaces, and the Greenwich campus itself is a great place to study.
View moreStudying at the University of Greenwich has been a truly enriching experience. One of the things I’ve appreciated the most is the strong sense of community there are always events, networking opportunities, and activities that make it easy to connect with others and feel supported. The campus atmosphere is welcoming and vibrant, and you never feel like just another number.
The teaching staff are genuinely invested in your success. They take the time to support your learning journey, offer constructive feedback, and encourage growth both academically and personally. I’ve felt guided and motivated throughout my time here, and I’m proud to be part of such a caring and dynamic university.
What I didn’t like was probably how old some classrooms look lol
I first chose the university for arguably unpractical reasons. Essentially I wanted to stay in London and I thought the campus was gorgeous.
When I went to the open day I discovered that my course, Marketing Management, was interesting and the professors seemed to be passionate about the subject they taught. The university is always trying to improve themselves, so at the end of my first year they changed the course to Marketing and Brand Management as they are constantly keeping up with the demands of the changing industry and wanted our learning to reflect the current market.
On to the more exciting stuff! Being in London means that you have access to all of the exciting venues and events. On top of the location of the University being amazing, there is also many societies and social event are held every week. There is also a University club that doubles as a restaurant in the day with lots of student deals.
I have struggled in my journey at this University as for my course we only have class two days a week, if you are looking for a more intense academic experience then this university course may not be for you. Furthermore, as the majority of the students are home students, they use their University time to socialise, making the lectures noisy from time to time. However, this is slowly being changed, with student reps working with course leaders to put in place measures for a more rewarding learning experience.
The University of Greenwich is a truly amazing experience, I have joined many societies including cheer, music and trampolining. Through these I have made so many friends, everyone is extremely social and willing to make new connections and I have made memories that I will cherish forever.
View moreEverything in the UoG is aligned with students’ preferences and is super well-organised. It is a pleasure to be able to be a part of the UoG team and continue my studies there. As I was scared in the beginning of my first year, this university made me feel welcome and gave me the chance to understand what i want and how to achieve it.
View moreWhat first caught my attention was its beautiful campus. The university has a fun and dynamic student life!
The University of Greenwich offers a wide variety of careers to choose from, as well as different seminars and really interesting guest speakers.
View moreI studied on a bachelor of arts in business with marketing back in 2019/2020. Campus life was the most significant part of the experience for me, the buildings at Greenwich are beautiful, the scenery is amazing and it just gives you an overall sense of gratification by just being there. The program itself was very fruitful, I enjoyed my lectures and networking with my lecturers as well.
View moreI loved the teachers, who were not just real professionals in their fields, not just academics, but real human beings and always there to help you.
The university itself is in a picture-perfect location and the campuses are just mesmerising, a place where old meets new.
I did both my undergrad and postgrad there and am very happy with every single moment I’ve spent there.
Would highly recommend to anyone that wants to be in London and at the same time connect with nature.
