This is my university I have went for my studies and I have find this university so better and the fees are affordable as per other universities. The syllabus of books of this university is quite different than other but teaching was so good.
View moreUCL is a very inclusive university, accepting students from all over the world and offering a wide range of majors, so you can find anything you like at this university. Of course, it also has a variety of interest-base organization and activities to keep our daily study life from being boring.
The year I spent studying at UCL was greatly enhanced by my expertise. I also explored the local culture of the UK with the exercise of our coursework. It has allowed me to see the world differently and experience life differently this year.
If I were to say that there are shortcomings, of course there are. It is the fact that the department reassigns each student to a mentor during the final dissertation. The mentor has a short time to get in touch with the students and does not know them well, so it takes time to bond with the students. However, if the mentor cannot get along well with their student, then the student cannot get good grade within the help of the mentor which will influence their job seeking.
View moreI think the academic life at UCL is quite good. Because it’s free enough to let me find what I am really interested in, which is quite important to me. And the teachers are very helpful to every trouble I meet, they would tell me how to study efficiently and how to fix problems in my life, so I learn a lot from them. I think the anthropology department cares about how to support their students and they do a lot of work to ensure everything works well.
View moreWe have quite a lot of chances to practice. We need to do some projects by ourselves, which could train our ability in this field very quickly. However, the COVID affected our experience in this programme. It’s a weakness: if you can’t have lessons on campus, you can’t learn the knowledge properly, you can’t use the digital equipment. If you can’t get in touch with people, you won’t have characters to film.
Many of our tutors are from BBC. They are experienced and very kind.
I did an MSc in Anthropology at UCL, and am a wheelchair user. I had to sit outside in the corridor for some classes because the rooms were not accessible. I had to take a term off to undergo medical treatment but my dept head forgot to file the temporary withdrawal from studies paperwork so my records showed that I’d been enrolled in (and failed) a full term of modules I had not attended. I had to threaten legal action to force them to remove all the 0s from my record and to not charge me double for that term. It also took three more months to end my withdrawal so I wound up being forced to delay graduation by six months. And the cherry on top I had to do my entire graduate dissertation without a dissertation supervisor because the supervisor I was assigned completely ghosted me and would never respond to any of my emails and I couldn’t physically access her office to try to talk to her in person. UCL is a degree factory with sometimes more than 50 students in a class and I literally never spoke to some of my tutors the entire time I was there.
