Very good teaching, too much emphasis on cold calling
    Quite intense
Lots of reading to do and at times its difficult to complete work because there is a lot going on
This also means that it is difficult to get involved with extracurricular activities

    Both Demanding and Fulfilling

LSE is one of the highest-ranking universities in the world and it certainly meets the expectation of such ranking. The Professors and the academic staff are amazing in their subjects and the school provides many useful services for its students and alumni, from consulting and assistance with the studies or career planning to overall emotional and mental health services. You can find help through various sections or staff, in LSE Life, LSE Careers, or from the major-specific library assistants. The only problem is that it does not engage with real and ongoing world issues ad much as it should (at least in my discipline). which might be a result of the intense academic schedule and all the works that should be done in one year.

    LSE Experience

Although the work load can be intense at times, it offered many interesting readings and proposed me with good intellectual challenges that I have thoroughly benefited. I liked the fact that in the second year, you have a chance to select modules of your interest. At this stage, you can tailor your degree to fit your interests and start make your degree more unique! LSE has a resourceful career service, which provides help for interview and C.V. in general, as well as, a network of alumni that interacts closely with the university.

    Doesn’t care about its students

While my time at the LSE has been characterised by a certain discourse which has focused on the key words “student satisfaction”, not once have I felt that this institution cares at all about its students. It feels like the only reason student satisfaction matters to them is because it is an embarrassment for them to be so low in the tables, not because they actually care about students’ wellbeing. There has consistently been little effort to address what I feel are the roots of low student satisfaction: a preoccupation with prestigious and highly lucrative jobs, a complete disregard for mental health, and an unsafe, unwelcoming and competitive environment for those who feel lost and need help. The only thing that has stopped me from giving it 1 star is because my department has been largely different. The anthropology department feels like a community, a small haven in an otherwise unfriendly university.

You get what you put in

LSE is a very corporate, careers driven university. It is not for the faint-hearted. You have to be tough and strong-willed to survive at LSE: with challenges like social life, academic teaching and student engagement. However, I personally learned to deal with these challenges by finding people who think similarly to me. I got involved with societies, switched degrees to Anthropology and now have a chance to study abroad. All this is because I could adapt and found opportunities to keep growing at LSE. They are there for you to find at LSE – you just have to keep pushing to find them. But be warned – LSE can be a stressful, isolating uni in the middle of London. You’ve got to work hard to overcome those challenges; I did, and I feel very happy here.

    Great institution with a flaw

LSE is an amazing institution, have been enjoying every second of myself here, with great motivated fellow students. With a great reputation, facilities, along with exceptional academic staff, the university provides an exciting academic environment for students to be in. It is not perfect in my opinion, due to a flaw in ‘outsourcing’ its research methodology courses to its methodology department, which is not the most organised department within the institution, and students cam barely benefit from the general social science research methodology courses compared to a subject-specific one

Amazing location, amazing, people, and great bang for your buck.

LSE is a great university for many reasons. The campus is located in the heart of London which gives you a great feeling. This further allows for amazing networking opportunities. From the beginning of the academic year, many companies come to campus for recruiting and alumni also often come back to share their experiences. LSE is not just great for its education, but also for what comes after your time here. LSE is also a little different in terms of academics. It urges students to be independent in their studies. You are encouraged to meet with GTAs and professors to do further research about your areas of interest as opposed to being spoon-fed. This makes students more responsible and accountable for their results. Additionally, they have seminars and guest lectures very often which is an opportunity for students to learn about topics that they are not taking classes in. LSE has loads of opportunities, it is up to the students to take advantage of it.

    tolerance, freedom and curiosity

There was a popular saying at LSE: If the students graduated from the LSE, the view of the world was the same as before, then the school failed the students. Because the way of cultivating different ways of thinking and the way to cultivate the world is different, it should be the core content of the university(LSE) that is famous for social science research.__Studying at the LSE, in addition to the study itself, I am getting the vision and mentality, and a confidence, since this university respect every gender orientation, religious beliefs and living habits, etc. The social sciences emphasize tolerance. It can be said that LSE is a left-wing school in the traditional sense, many of the British Fabian Society and the early Labor Party theory are graduated from LSE. But at the same time, ironically, Professor Friedrich Hayek from the LSE was known for his opposition to the government’s intervention in the economy and his right-wing economic theories, even later won the Nobel Prize in Economics. A series of well-known debates between Hayek and Keynes on government intervention just occurred the period when Hayek taught at LSE. Both the left and right political economy theory can exist at LSE, which become a famous holy place for both theories, illustrating its academic level and academic freedom. __I think What LSE brings to me is not just the shining degree on the resume and the excellent alumni in LinkedIn. The curiosity and modesty that it advocates will be my lifelong pursuit.__
