Although I don’t have much to compare it with, I enjoyed my 4 years at King’s. My course was pretty much exactly as it was described in the prospectus and I always understood how the course worked and how everything fitted together, as well as its overarching purpose within the degree. The academic staff were great – always around for a chat about the course and other pastoral and personal issues. Marking was generally fair, apart from in finals, where we had missed out on a lot of material due to the union strikes in 2018. The university was also great at offering well-paid (London living wage) jobs on part time bases to students, which was especially helpful given how expensive London is. The location of my department was excellent. One negative point was that the library was constantly understocked; there might only be 2 or 3 copies of a core text for a class available, meaning that often I would have to purchase a copy for myself.
