Full-fledged eye clinic with a fairly diverse patient base so students get a great deal of hands-on experience in the later part of their degree. The optometric scope of practice is expanding, especially in Scotland, so the syllabus places an increasingly heavy emphasis on secondary care (e.g., providing pharmaceutical interventions), which is great if you enjoy the clinical aspect of optometry. The school is also home to the Vision Research Group, which has carried out some notable research in the area of face perception and physiological optics (e.g., accommodation). The optometry department is also associated with some highly regarded work in dry eye in the past, TFOS etc.
