I really enjoyed my first year at KCL mainly because of how easy business management was the first year compared to the rigours of A-levels the previous year. Considering that first year grades don’t really matter to the overall grade of your degree it really took down the pressures I would’ve put initially. This allowed me to happily make mistakes and learn from them without feeling super stressed out. my course significantly was all diverse international students which was amazing to be around due to my similar upbringing. Everyone was lovely and found it quite easy to engage with people during the first week of university during the fresher’s period. I only wish I kept engaging with people throughout the year rather than just sticking to the people I made friends with in the first month. Although I had an enjoyable year, I wouldn’t say I was fulfilled with what I learnt this year for how much I was paying as an international student. Also, as soon as you get your offer letter please apply for student accommodation, that was a mistake I made and my portal showed none of the KCL ones, only UOL and shared bathrooms, so definitely be on top of that. I stayed in an intercollegiate housing called College Hall, did not really enjoy some of the people here but it’s an amazing location (I’d say the best intercollegiate housing is Garden Halls for mingling in the dorms). Also the clubing scene can get so overrated and you will eventually be so bored of it so try and find other types of hobbies not including only drinking.
