A business cannot survive if its products are not marketed in the proper way. Luckily for all the businesses out there, the number of candidates wanting to pursue a marketing career is growing tremendously.
The aim of this degree is to help students anticipate, manage, and satisfy customers’ needs and wants. By doing so, they will be able to effectively communicate the benefits of any business product to the targeted market.
Due to the fact that marketing is a complex industry, which tackles many areas ranging from market research to advertising and promotion, this degree focuses on all parts of the process before concentrating on a particular area of study.
Good news for marketing graduates! If you did not know yet, marketing is an essential aspect of all types of businesses, from all sectors of activity. Thus, all of them rely on marketers to promote and sell their products. A high market demand comes with many job opportunities available.
According to Labor Department Findings, graduates with a marketing degree can earn 98% more per hour than the ones working in the industry without having a specialised degree.
Furthermore, students are equipped with transferable skills, such as excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, planning, data analysis and so on, that can be used in other industries too.
Marketing degrees can be studied either as Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). The major difference lies in the presence of more scientific and technological aspects, which are commonly seen in a BSc rather than a BA.
Like most degrees, marketing courses last between three and four years, depending on the university. However, there are institutions which give students the possibility to do a two-year associate’s degree – also called a ‘foundation’ degree.
Even if graduating from both degrees qualifies candidates to work in this industry, a Bachelor degree has higher chances to lead you to well-paid jobs.
I graduated last year with a Business and Marketing degree. My experience at Huddersfield University was great everything was a walking distance, and I really enjoyed my modules. The people were friendly, and the teachers were great. There’s lots of activities to keep you busy such as a boxing gym nearby, gyms, night life, and more.
View moreThe university is pretty decent, but I do feel it’s quite biased when working with international students as though we are micro-managed especially the post-graduate students!
I like the benefits of free language courses and strategic marketing courses.
View moreOverall it is a good university that I would highly recommend, the buildings feel welcoming and modern, staff are professional and helpful, and the resources are useful, like the library, recreational equipment, and online tools (MyHud, Brightspace).
It would be better for the online tools to be more refined, as they can be hard to use. More help and tools should have been provided during online classes.

I like it because it ha brought me many friends, my only dislike is it could’ve been handled better during covid. I thought the teachers were average and sometimes hard to understand, however still managed to complete the degree at a good level.
View moreI think the university reaches high standards in most if not all departments, whether that’s facilities, teaching standards, or help in finding graduate jobs post-graduation. The overall location is also perfect for commuters.
View moreStarting in September 2019, my journey at the University of Huddersfield is coming to a close. Having to handle the weight and pressure of study was well worth the reward that has come forth because of it. Covering modules such as Marketing Communications, Market Research and Consultancy, and many more have allowed me to understand how marketing works in the industry and in our daily lives. For those who are interested in working as a consultant, marketer or in the social media industry marketing is a great degree to consider taking.
View moreWhat I like about the program that I am doing is that it is broad, which means that I am able to have the opportunity to understand and learn different aspects of the business than just focusing on the course that I am doing. The classes are very friendly and I work well with anyone when doing a group project or just needing to work in groups for a task in class. The teachers give students a lot of information and support as soon as they need them. They are very punctual with their emails. There isn’t much I would really change about the university or the program as they provide us with everything we need.
View moreThe Campus’s helpful staff that are present to help you out in any walk of your life!there’s on-campus employment hub, various societies and on top of all and there are teachers to talk to if you’re going thru something. The library is great and the service is really efficient. The student union is a friendly hub offered by students to students which allows us to resolve a variety of issues with their help. The student central is a great building to grab a bite or a cup of coffee while rushing through the lectures. As with the course the content is always relevant with lecture handouts provided. The teachers in my foundation year were really helpful and were ready to provide help outside of the hours as well!
