Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.
International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.
Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.
A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.
The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.
Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.
International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.
The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.
Upon embarking to study on an LLB Law course at the University of Strathclyde, I was met with a great deal of help and support from the university staff. The friendliness and approachability of the staff, including professors, administrators and tutors was exemplary and contributed greatly to the enjoyability of the course. On top of this, the rigorous education I received while on the course developed in me a fully rounded and detailed understanding of the legal system that I believe will accompany me for my entire life. Overall, I would highly recommend this university for all prospective students.
View moreThe University of Strathclyde offers various opportunities for student to excel in their degree, as well as being able to maintain a healthy social life. Strathclyde offers amazing support particularly for mental health. They have a range of mental health sites as well as support team that you can reach out to without any hesitation. The university also has a numerous amount of societies, so it is quite easy to find something suited for you, that is able to meet your schedule. They also have a job ship incase you require to work, providing opportunities that you cannot miss. They are there to meet your needs and surpass expectations. The staff is always friendly, and you are (depending on your course) assigned to a Personal Development Adviser (PDA) to whom you can also reach out to for support and will almost always get a response as soon as possible. They can always assist and direct you in the right direction if necessary if you are troubled with something. Overall, Strathclyde has opportunities available that most definitely can meet your expectations, or just a little hobby. It’s perfect for making new friends and meeting different people, all while they will inform you for any work experience opportunities or placements. There is always support for no matter what you do.
View moreAlthough Strathclyde University has a boisterous and luminous atmosphere, it is very crowded. It was very easy (especially during Covid 19), to get past 2 whole years of University without making any real friends. I feel that the university should have more programmes in place for first year students to do familiarise themselves with each other.
View moreThe university is highly equipped with advanced technological devices in surplus amount, enough for each student to use at a time. The devices are also well managed and barely have any technical faults and makes working better.
View moreI have enjoyed my time within Strathclyde University, however i’ve found it difficult to fully integrate due to Covid-19 restrictions. I am hopeful that in the future the University will be more interactive as restrictions ease. My tutors however have been able to improve my University experience as a whole as they have been giving feedback whether that be online or through short tutorials.
View moreI really like the lecturers and many teach in good informative ways which engage you. It can get very stressful and I would say sometimes the University lack the support which some need. Tutorials are extremely useful and they help me understand the modules better.
View moreI like my course as my university is triple-accredited and offers many career development programmes for graduates as well as undergraduates. The lectures are interactive even though they are online, each department plans out the lectures to be engaging therefore every now and then they invite entrepreneurs to share their experience in the working world. Additionally, they also offer many supporting sessions for students who are facing difficulties with their studies and enable them to reach out and get help to pass the year/course. One thing I dislike is that the lectures are too long and therefore it has hard to understand the content and keep up to date. In the third year, Strathclyde offers an exchange programme with many international universities. They are highly encouraged to take this opportunity as it will boost their CV and the student will have their unique personal experience as a student.
View moreThe University of Strathclyde is in the centre of Glasgow and at the heart of the student heart of the city. The location is key to its popularity and is also centred close to nightclubs. Nonetheless, the ‘centre-ness’ of the university to the student accommodation can make the feeling mundane at points, especially in this current COVID-19 climate. Nonetheless being centre also allows the ability to be close to nightclubs and other student accommodation, however, it could mean you are subject to ‘centre of city’ living costs. The student accommodation in Glasgow is expensive and when moving into your second year and moving out of halls, it can become a potential issue trying to find flats, with the current housing crisis in Scotland. Near Strathclyde student accommodation is the new student union, which can be described as the new centre of all ‘Strathclyde’.
View moreI chose this programme because I wanted to study with a diverse group of students, and it did not disappoint. The challenge of working with students from other countries was invaluable and I learned a tremendous amount about cultural differences in communication and ways of working.
The course material and work strike a nice balance between academic and real-world practicality. There were a number of opportunities to engage with local business leaders to analyse organisational challenges and recommend solutions, as well as receive feedback from decision-makers.
I also really enjoyed the opportunity to opt into courses and electives alongside the part-time MBA students and network with them.
While the MBA staff work incredibly hard to support the students, I think it would be beneficial to bring in a few more potential employers, though understandably, many of the cohort who study at the programme do intend to return to their home countries afterward.
Overall a really terrific programme and one that I highly recommend to anyone who asks!
View moreI remember my experience in Glasgow from five years ago as a clear highlight of my student life. While I had already been studying my bachelor’s degree in Management for 3 complete years in Barcelona, it wasn’t until I got to Strathclyde that I was really able to enjoy what I was studying. The methodology applied during the semester’s classes and the exams’ typology, which was more practical and empirical in comparison to the ones I was used to in my prior teaching experience, helped me understand how a great way of studying is possible. Therefore, in the following years, I’ve been able to build my own path to follow while studying by praxis that can best fit my needs. Also, the location was great as the campus was located in the city centre and the environment was charming.
