What Is a Marketing Degree?

A business cannot survive if its products are not marketed in the proper way. Luckily for all the businesses out there, the number of candidates wanting to pursue a marketing career is growing tremendously.

The aim of this degree is to help students anticipate, manage, and satisfy customers’ needs and wants. By doing so, they will be able to effectively communicate the benefits of any business product to the targeted market.

Due to the fact that marketing is a complex industry, which tackles many areas ranging from market research to advertising and promotion, this degree focuses on all parts of the process before concentrating on a particular area of study.

Benefits of a Marketing Degree

Good news for marketing graduates! If you did not know yet, marketing is an essential aspect of all types of businesses, from all sectors of activity. Thus, all of them rely on marketers to promote and sell their products. A high market demand comes with many job opportunities available.

According to Labor Department Findings, graduates with a marketing degree can earn 98% more per hour than the ones working in the industry without having a specialised degree.

Furthermore, students are equipped with transferable skills, such as excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, planning, data analysis and so on, that can be used in other industries too.

Marketing Degree Structure

Marketing degrees can be studied either as Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). The major difference lies in the presence of more scientific and technological aspects, which are commonly seen in a BSc rather than a BA.

Like most degrees, marketing courses last between three and four years, depending on the university. However, there are institutions which give students the possibility to do a two-year associate’s degree – also called a ‘foundation’ degree.

Even if graduating from both degrees qualifies candidates to work in this industry, a Bachelor degree has higher chances to lead you to well-paid jobs.

    Great course

I think Exeter is a great university although it, definitely lived up to the stereotype of being very posh and upper-class I found my 3 years very enjoyable. With so many students it is easy to find people you get on with and societies to enjoy.

Exeter University: Top-Ranked for Business Studies

As a second-year marketing student at the University of Exeter, I have had the opportunity to experience the university’s offerings firsthand. Renowned for its exceptional business programs, this university has consistently maintained a high ranking in the UK. In this review, I will share my thoughts on the university as an International Student Ambassador at the university, highlighting both the positive aspects and areas for improvement.

In my opinion, the University of Exeter lives up to its reputation as a top-ranking institution for business studies. The quality of education provided by the faculty is outstanding. The professors are highly knowledgeable, approachable, and demonstrate a genuine passion for teaching. Their expertise in the field of marketing has been invaluable in shaping my understanding and skills. The university’s curriculum is well-designed, encompassing both theoretical concepts and practical applications, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive education.

One of the aspects I particularly appreciate about the University of Exeter is the friendly and supportive atmosphere on campus. From fellow students to administrative staff, everyone is approachable and willing to lend a helping hand. The collaborative environment fosters teamwork and creates a sense of belonging, making it easier to engage in group projects and extracurricular activities.

Furthermore, the university’s career services department deserves special mention. They offer excellent guidance and resources to enhance students’ employability. The career advisors provide individualized support, assisting with CV writing, interview preparation, and networking opportunities. The university’s strong connections with industry professionals also open doors to internships and job placements, further enhancing students’ prospects in the business world.

One aspect of the University of Exeter that some may find challenging is the hilly terrain. The campus is situated on a picturesque hillside, which can make traversing from one building to another a bit strenuous. However, this can also be seen as an opportunity to incorporate physical activity into our daily routine and enjoy the stunning views that the campus offers.

Without hesitation, I would highly recommend the University of Exeter to prospective students, especially those interested in pursuing a business major. The university’s strong reputation in the field, combined with the exceptional education it provides, offers an excellent foundation for a successful career in business. The supportive and collaborative environment, coupled with the outstanding career services, ensures that students are well-prepared for their future endeavors.

In conclusion, as a second-year marketing student at the University of Exeter, I am thoroughly impressed with the institution’s commitment to providing a top-tier education. The university’s high ranking in the UK for business studies is well-deserved. With its friendly atmosphere, dedicated faculty, and exceptional career services, the University of Exeter offers an enriching and rewarding experience for aspiring business professionals.

    Excellent Business School programme

It was a great experience over the 4 years I studied at the University of Exeter. I completed a degree in Management with Marketing with Industrial Experience, which included an Industrial Placement year during the third year.

This structure allowed for unparalleled experience in the professional working environment whilst teaching the theory of business during the academic studies. There was a wide breadth of subjects allowing for business students to cater their degree to their interests and passions as they moved through their degree.

The campus and setting of the university was great as you are a 20 minute walk from the centre of the city, where there is a wide range of bars, clubs and activities that you can do.

University of Exeter : Student Experience

I am currently a final year marketing and management student at the University of Exeter. My time studying this degree has been an extremely fruitful experience. The lectures and seminars are spaced out very well allowing students like myself to create and plan their course of action in an organised manner. The spaced out timetable also allows students to participate in extra curricular activities which are in abundance in the university campus. Throughout my three years I have been provided with the oppurtunity to take part in several societies and sports clubs which has helped me improve on several of my interpersonal and leadership skills and at the same time make some new peers. The University of Exeter furthermore, is a very close community which makes it easier for new students to easily interact and make peers with people having common interests. Additionally, the staff abd the lecturers are extremely knowegable and supportive and provide a holisitc education experience . The lecturers also help to guide to students regarding any doubts, career advise and even support regarding mental health issues which are often common for new students beginning their university venture. The university of Exeter careerzone also provides a wonderful platform in order to assist in finding both part-time and full-time jobs.

great opportunity to take a carful look at myself

To be very honest with you, I cannot say I love this university.

It does not mean that they have a poor quality of facilities or teaching. Of course, this is life, so it is impossible to appreciate everything, so I have several things that I do not like such as timetables. Since the timetable system has just changed, there are quite a few technical issues happening to many students, which is inconvenient. However, the technical support staff has been working so hard to manage the problems. I can tell that because their in-person supports were helpful when I faced some technical issues.

To reflect on my review title, I have a lot of opportunities to take a careful look at myself.
I am an international student from Japan. Although English is not my second language, I believe that my English is understandable. Moreover, I have nice communication skills, hence it is not difficult to make friends no matter where I am in. Nevertheless, being an international student living in the countryside of the UK separated from my family gives me a lot of time to consider who I am.

Sometimes, it hurts me because I am more likely to be able to see weak parts of myself. This is not a bad thing as I consider this a benefit; I have great opportunities to know myself better than before, and I embrace it and take quick actions to improve myself.

Furthermore, the population of students from Japan is small at this university Thus, I can push myself to get to feel at home in this country.

BSc Marketing and Management at the University of Exeter

After completing my first year of university at Exeter, I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The closeness of the campus feels truly feels like a student village, making it so easy to make friends and bond quickly with other students on the same course, in societies, and in sports. It is not only the closeness of campus living that has made it so much fun, but also feels safe with campus security alerts at all times. The endless list of societies and sports makes it easy for you to fit into what interests you the most. I have been able to meet so many interesting people from all over the world, and some students in term 2 coming to study on exchange. Studying at the business school has been so interesting, and the course has allowed me to expand my business knowledge, not just in marketing, to prepare me for the fast-paced business environment that we are currently living in. The library and on campus facilities are fantastic for finding the perfect study spot. The support from tutors and lecturers has also been amazing, meaning I can email, or ask about anything I have been unsure about without worry. The range of assessments on the course – from essays, to reports, to presentations, to MCQs, to exams – has meant it has been more versatile than simply completing a final exam, broadening my skills for the future. I would highly recommend studying at Exeter and choosing a degree in business.
