Over the two years that I’ve spent in this university so far, I’ve had so many great experiences from joining societies and being student ambassador to meeting people of different ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. The one thing that has stuck in my head about my initial impression of the university is how eager to help each other and students the members of staff and older students are. There wasn’t a moment when I had a problem and there was no one out there that couldn’t give me a helping hand, especially since during these two years I have been studying in three different campuses/departments (the Main Campus, the Queens Park Campus and the Centre for Foundation Studies). However, studying with international students I have noticed that the university does not provide enough in class support to the international students therefore the overall lecture/seminar experience is confusing for them due to the language barrier. However, with supporting classmates this error can be easily overcome, but the university doesn’t need to rely on its students to teach the concepts as it is the lecturers’ duties, hence, this could have been improved. Overall, I would recommend my university. It’s a great institution that facilitates us students fully and provides us with many opportunities to educate and improve ourselves.
