A business cannot survive if its products are not marketed in the proper way. Luckily for all the businesses out there, the number of candidates wanting to pursue a marketing career is growing tremendously.
The aim of this degree is to help students anticipate, manage, and satisfy customers’ needs and wants. By doing so, they will be able to effectively communicate the benefits of any business product to the targeted market.
Due to the fact that marketing is a complex industry, which tackles many areas ranging from market research to advertising and promotion, this degree focuses on all parts of the process before concentrating on a particular area of study.
Good news for marketing graduates! If you did not know yet, marketing is an essential aspect of all types of businesses, from all sectors of activity. Thus, all of them rely on marketers to promote and sell their products. A high market demand comes with many job opportunities available.
According to Labor Department Findings, graduates with a marketing degree can earn 98% more per hour than the ones working in the industry without having a specialised degree.
Furthermore, students are equipped with transferable skills, such as excellent communication abilities, strategic thinking, planning, data analysis and so on, that can be used in other industries too.
Marketing degrees can be studied either as Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc). The major difference lies in the presence of more scientific and technological aspects, which are commonly seen in a BSc rather than a BA.
Like most degrees, marketing courses last between three and four years, depending on the university. However, there are institutions which give students the possibility to do a two-year associate’s degree – also called a ‘foundation’ degree.
Even if graduating from both degrees qualifies candidates to work in this industry, a Bachelor degree has higher chances to lead you to well-paid jobs.
It was an amazing experience to study in University of south Wales
While studying I gained valuable knowledge while meeting with different parts of students to understand different cultures of the world
All the staff were very helpful and available all the time to solve students problems
Overall, the study experience is great. Lecturers across a range of subjects are clearly very strong in their fields and as such the lessons they provide allow for a real understanding of any given topic. The support outside of studying is also incredible, from well-being tp financial support.

The campus is modern with all of the faculties you need to study for a degree. The lecture rooms are more like college/sixth form lectures which is good if you’re looking for 1-1 conversation with the lecturers. The library has working computers and printer services with the opportunity to book out quiet study areas. Not only does the campus provide facilities for studying but there are also many areas to socialise and make friends.
Student Life is average with areas to improve. As I previously mentioned the campus has many areas to socialise and get to know people which is a positive. As the Cardiff Campus isn’t the main USW Campus, all of the societies and activities are located a train ride away in Treforest. However, there have been conversations around students proposing to start up societies in the Cardiff Campus as this is something the University lacks.
Overall, the accommodation is very modern and exactly what you’d need. There are two options for the Cardiff Campus which are located in the centre of the City opposite the campus. Similar to the University, there are areas to study in the accommodation as well as a common room to socialise. Facilities such as a laundry room and post boxes are available on site. All of the rooms are equipped with double beds, a desk and a good amount of storage with en-suites. There are options to have a studio room which includes a kitchen area rather than sharing a kitchen with 5-7 other students.
