The chemistry degree is just a total waste of time and money , since 2020 many of the good lecturers have left which means that the bad ones remain. In every university you get bad teachers which is a given, but when the department is already small the bad ones remain.. a perfect example of this is the lack of effort what people need to understand that the chemistry department has zero money all the funding comes from teaching which is is at a loss so your only choice is to share modules with Forensic science students which has lots of money just to keep chemistry department a float. I have left Kent two years now not used a single bit of what I was taught… and many others have also experienced this.
You should be aware that Kent teaches you so little it like a trap and to be honest I have met few people who have simply not prepared for working with other departments because they lack the skills due to bad training.
I mean when your O-chem lecturers are just SS of a book what dose that tell you about the people who work there 🤔 just don’t care ! I really don’t see why anyone would ever go to Kent when there are so many other university that offer so much more.
I mean I learned more from lecturer notes from my colleagues from different universities than the ones from my department! The courses are terrible with very little room for learning what you want to as they are all compulsory. STAY AWAY.
View moreGood quality campus uni, With good on campus facilities, gym , library , theatre , with independent collages. Close to history city of Canterbury, easy access to London by train and coach.
Good campus social life .
Good support from lecturers, easy to approach. They reply to emails fairly quickly and the door is always open. Admin is helpful. Accommodation is good but could do with modernising some places like Parkwood, Darwin houses, and Eliot dorms. Need more regular housekeeping of houses and laundrette area.
