Studying Marketing and Management at the University of Sussex has been a really rewarding experience. One of my favourite things about Sussex is its location. It’s just a 20-minute bus ride from Brighton, a vibrant and diverse city full of creativity and great places to explore. Having the peaceful, green campus life combined with such easy access to the city gives you the best of both worlds.
The campus itself has a strong community feel. Since everything is located in one place, it’s easy to meet people, especially in your first year. The green spaces and open layout make it feel calm and welcoming. I also really appreciate how spacious the library is as there are plenty of study areas to suit different preferences, whether you’re looking for a quiet corner or a more collaborative space.
The course structure for Marketing and Management has been well thought out. Modules build on each other in a way that feels purposeful and there’s a good mix of theory and practical learning. I’ve especially enjoyed modules like Consumer Behaviour and Marketing Analytics, which have felt relevant and applicable. One thing that could be improved is the exam format, as many assessments are online, which doesn’t always motivate you to prepare in the same way as in-person exams would. Having more on-campus exams could help push students to engage more deeply with the material.
Another thing I value about Sussex is how diverse and international the student body is. You meet people from all over the world, which adds so much to the university experience. I’ve also really enjoyed being part of the Business Society. It’s given me the chance to meet people with similar interests, attend inspiring events and feel more connected to the wider university community.
Overall, Sussex offers a supportive and inclusive environment with strong academics, a lively social scene, and the perfect setting for personal and professional growth.
