Studying at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) has been a transformative experience for me as an economics finalist student. The university offers a wide range of programs in business that are practical and industry oriented. I particularly appreciated the exposure to experienced lecturers, PHD holders, who bring real world insights into the lecture rooms as well as the many opportunities for networking through clubs, associations and students dialogues and other activities.
One of the things I liked most about MUBS is its vibrant and dynamic campus life. There is always something happening and you just have to choose where you want to be, from academic workshops, to cultural galas and other extracurricular activities that keep students engaged beyond lecture rooms.
However like many large institutions, MUBS does face a big challenge of over crowded classes. The students enrolled per year are more than what the classrooms can contain so they resorted to splitting different class years into online weeks and physical weeks where some students in particular years study online for some weeks while others are at campus for physical lectures and vice versus.
Over all, I believe MUBS prepares students well for the professional world through internships and encourages independent thinking, creativity and resilience. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a business education in Uganda especially for those who want to combine academic growth with personal development.
