Universiteit Utrecht offers a perfect blend of academic excellence and a vibrant student life. As a science student, I found the program to be intellectually stimulating, with a strong emphasis on research and critical thinking. The campus in the Utrecht Science Park is modern and eco-friendly, and the university’s commitment to sustainability is inspiring. What sets UU apart is the international student community, which brings diverse perspectives to discussions and group projects. The university’s library system is extensive, with quiet study areas and a buzzing café where I spent countless hours. A lesser-known gem is the free Dutch language courses offered to international students, which helped me integrate better into local life. Utrecht as a city is lively yet cozy, with its charming canals and endless cultural events. My only criticism would be the occasional bureaucratic hurdles, but overall, studying at UU was an enriching experience that prepared me for the global stage.

Utrecht University offers a wide range of units in the Biology programme. Some sections are compulsory, but of the 3-year course, about 2.5 years are optional. This is what attracted me to this university and I liked it. I had to work on subjects that interested me and reject subjects that I knew I didn’t want to work on in the future.
