I believe tha there are a lot of good things about the study. But in an overall view there are some bad aspects. For example some of the teachers arent clear in there teachings and should b able to provide more.
View moreOne thing that I like about the university is the campus and the people there. The staff is always ready to help and the majority of other students are nice and friendly. I chose this program because it is broad enough not to bore me easily and because it seemed like a good background for both the private and public sectors. On the other hand, the fact that the program is multidisciplinary strengthens the impression that the career choice will be challenging. Trying to compensate for that, the university gives directions towards this kind of research. I am convinced that the language lessons still need improvement though. There are also numerous student organizations that one can join. The university has a good location and enough facilities and also helps with finding accommodation for 50% of first-year students. Usually, it is really difficult to find a place to rent in the Netherlands.
View moreAs a current European Studies full-time student in the 4-year stream, I am not impressed with the quality of education, nor with the level of academic or practical skills that are being put into practice. The procedures taking place in THUAS (De Haagse Hogeschool) are always bureaucratic and messy, but I assume any big organisation faces this problem if not managed correctly. What I can testify for being the best is that very few lecturers stand out and make a huge difference as of their truly outstanding attitude and passion for teaching. Some students are lucky enough to get personal coaching through assignments, given they show interest and ask questions.
The main campus is new and futuristic, making students feel at ease and many student-bodied policies are taking place continuously in order for the fellow applied scientists to feel at home and safe while in the building. There are a few cozy cafes indoors, as well as a quiet library and a few scattered study spots no one really knows about. There is always something going on, too. If you are an active person, there are plenty of student organisations for things like partying to study groups and sports. It is a cool place to learn how to adult, make friends and get your life together while figuring out what to do career-wise, but definitely not a spot for a know-it-alls. The grading criteria is different and rewards the transition to success much more than a long term effort for an instant one-time brilliant result. That is the main difference between Universities of Applied Sciences and Research ones.
I am currently doing a semester abroad here in The Hague, and so far my experience has been amazing. The teachers have been great, really nice and supportive, especially the coordinators from the European Studies module. Not only is the university amazing, but The Hague is also an amazing city, with restaurants and bars, museums, and even a beach. My personal favourite is the sports activities, which are going on all week long and are a must-visit.
View moreI learned a lot but nothing that I could really apply in the working world, which is why I gave those areas a 3. Most of the professors were excellent. What I loved the most was the internationality of the campus, the student life, and I got really lucky with the accommodation as well.
View moreHonestly, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect coming to school my first day, but as time went by, it all began to make more sense to me. The subjects overall are okay, some don’t really make that much sense to me though. Also, I really don’t like online classes, as we have 3 subjects online, but that’s obviously not a mistake made by the school. The students are really great as well. Everyone is so eager to help and to make friends as well. I’m glad that this study is very broad, and not focused on one certain job. It covers most of my interests and I’m curious about what else this course will bring. So far, so good I’d say.
View moreI like the programme very much. I like how broad it is and how it covers different areas. Teachers are helpful, atmosphere is very inclusive and positive. It offers a lot of possibilities after the education and I am glad that I chose this programme.
View moreBefore choosing to study this programme I made sure to study the course contents thoroughly and so far all of my expectations I had based on that were met. The professors are kind and always willing to help their students, even with the slightest problems or answer all their questions. It is taught both on campus and online because of the measures and even though I was sceptical at first, the school handles this situation really well. The lectures we have online are always being recorded, so that the students can go back to them anytime they need and the professors organise online QnA sessions for students to ask questions about the lectures.
The facilities at school are also great, from the library which is filled with computers and books for students to use, to various places for students to spend their free time. The University also makes sure all students feel comfortable and safe in school at all times by being openly and authentically welcoming to all kinds of people no matter what.
The course itself is very interesting and engaging. Students get the chance to socialise a lot as many of our assignments are group projects which ensure no one is left alone.
As far as mental health goes, the University spreads a lot of awareness on this topic as well as gives the students the opportunity to get professional help if needed, which is in my opinion extraordinary.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this study or this University to anyone who wants to meet great people from all over the world and get a quality education while still having fun.
I think I choose the right department for myself. I’ve been attending to European studies and so far I recommend to everyone who loves culture, language, politic, business. If You have any interest in this field you must apply.
My teachers are helpful and consistent. The building is huge easy to get lost but there is always someone who will help you even if you are an international student. My classmates are really cool we get on well usually we meet outside of the school to enjoy each other company.
