The TU/e is very much an education-oriented university as opposed to one that only cares about research. I chose this place mostly based on the way they approach the teaching of the subject matter. In that regard, technical universities are unique already. Eindhoven is by no means exclusively a student city, which means that there are many dimensions to student life. There are hundreds of very active student associations run by the students for the students, such as practically any thinkable sport, very active clubs for each programme, many cultural activity clubs and clubs for like-minded individuals and travelling. Here students meet daily, so student life really is a lifestyle. Adding to this, the Brabant’s gezellige culture shines through in the way people treat each other which means everyone around you at university and in the city is friendly and inclusive. You can live on campus, but most live somewhere within the city where everything is closeby due to Eindhoven’s relatively modest size. Eindhoven also has an airport to get anywhere in Europe, and a train hub with for instance trains to Utrecht every 10 minutes. You definitely won’t feel stuck in just one place.
