Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.
International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.
Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.
A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.
The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.
Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.
International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.
The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.
As a student, I really enjoy the friendly atmosphere on campus. It’s modern and comfortable without feeling overwhelming, which makes it easy to connect with people. The courses are engaging and well-structured, especially if you’re interested in business and international markets. The timetable is flexible enough to balance studies with a part-time job or personal activities.
The lecturers are approachable and always happy to help, whether it’s during class or office hours. The university organizes lots of social events, workshops, and trips, which makes it easy to meet new people and feel part of the community.
What stands out the most is the practical side of the program. Through real case studies, group projects, and internship opportunities, I’m gaining hands-on experience that’s preparing me for the professional world. Overall, it’s been a really rewarding experience so far.
View moreI started my studies at Amsterdam Business School in September 2022, enrolling in the Bachelor’s in International Business program. What makes this course unique is its emphasis on practical, project-based learning instead of traditional exams. Each semester, we complete various assignments related to our study modules — some individually and others in groups. This approach makes learning more engaging and realistic, especially for those who prefer hands-on experience over memorizing for tests.
The school is conveniently located near the city center and public transport, making it easy to get to. The campus is modern and comfortable, though not too large, which gives it a friendly atmosphere. The coursework is interesting and manageable, especially for students interested in business, management, and global markets. The schedule also leaves enough free time to work part-time or explore other interests.
The teachers are approachable and supportive, always willing to help or answer questions. For new international students, Amsterdam Business School offers accommodation support, which is a big help since finding housing in the Netherlands can be difficult. The school also organizes social events and activities such as trips, workshops, and gatherings that make it easy to connect with other students.
The only challenge I’ve noticed is that sometimes instructions between teachers can differ slightly due to curriculum updates. It’s best to confirm details directly with the teacher assessing your work. Overall, my experience has been very positive, and I’d recommend this program to anyone looking for a practical, internationally oriented business education.
