As an international degree student at National Chengchi University, I found both the classroom experience and the overall campus environment to be very welcoming for international students. Since NCCU is well-known as a social sciences school, many courses naturally encourage discussion of global issues and cultural differences. This creates a learning space where you not only gain knowledge from professors but also from classmates who bring different backgrounds and perspectives to the table.

The international student community is active and well-integrated into campus life. Many classes are taught in English. While the school is about a 15-30 minute commute away from the city center, the campus itself is surrounded by nature, offering a calm and scenic atmosphere that makes studying here enjoyable.

The opportunities for intercultural exchange and the chance to build both academic and social connections make NCCU a rewarding place to study. There are a lot of interesting student clubs you can join. There are also plenty of programs catered for international students to participate.

It’s an especially strong choice for anyone interested in politics, international relations, communication, and other social sciences fields. I particularly recommend the classes Global Health Governance and Semiconductor Industry in the Era of Techno-Geopolitics. These are classes that are unique to Taiwan. There are plenty of field trips and workshops ensuring a hands-on learning environment.

NCCU provides a variety of classes, academic-oriented clubs, providing us with the flexbility to explore their interests. I especially appreciated our university’s cultural diversity, with many international students on campus, and the abundant opportunities for local students to participiate in exchange programs abroad. One of the aspect that stood out to me, and that I see as a form of preparation for the professional world, is that some classes can have a large number of students. In such classes, the value we can gain from the course often depends on each student’s own initiative and engagement.

The learning environment is very open, and the school strongly encourages students to double major or minor in order to expand their expertise.

I think National Chengchi University is a school full of academic depth and humanistic atmosphere, and it has particular advantages in the fields of social sciences, business management, communication and international affairs. The professors are professional and enthusiastic, the course content is diverse and inspiring, and students are encouraged to think critically and learn independently. The campus has a beautiful environment, surrounded by mountains and rivers, and is a suitable place for quiet study.

However, I think there is still room for improvement in practical connection and industrial cooperation. Some courses are relatively theory-oriented, and there are fewer opportunities for practical connection with enterprises. The administrative process can also occasionally feel cumbersome and requires some patience to get used to.

Overall, NCCU is a place suitable for students who love academics and care about social issues. If you can actively seek out external resources, this will be a very rich learning journey.
