I would highly recommend studying in the UPV especially at the Gandia Campus. The Campus is small and very familiar. Everybody knows each other and the relationship with teachers gets easier and more personalized.
I loved my Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication. It is a multidisciplinary program that exposes you to every field in media, enriching your creative background and broadening your horizons and interests.
The program takes a practical approach to every area in mass media. From the very first week, you’ll be on the studio writing, recording and creating from podcasts, to interviews, short films and social media content. I particularly appreciated the creative freedom we were given on class projects, and how the teachers encouraged us to pursue our own personal projects outside class using University material and sources at no cost.
Studying at Gandia Campus also facilitates personal growth. I encourage you to live there, because you will experience the best 4 years of your life. You’ll navigate adult life alongside your friends and forge long-lasting bonds. It truly is the authentic university experience. Studying Audiovisual Communication in Gandia Campus will always be the best decision of my life.
View moreStudying Audiovisual Communication in Gandía was overall a great decision. In terms of facilities and equipment, it is definitely one of the best schools in Spain, there’s a TV and a radio studio, tons of fancy cameras and lighting… Everything you’d wish for when studying film and media. Also, at the end of every semester, we’ll spend an entire month making an audiovisual project. For example, creating a radio programme from scratch, or working with a local non-profit to film an advertisement for them. Overall a great experience and would recommend it to anyone eager to start creating products instead of just learning the theory.
View moreObviously, it has many things to improve, but compared to other Spanish public universities (I’ve been in 3 more and also by peer ratings from other universities) is practically the best.
The campus of Vera (Valencia capital) is in a unique location, with convenient access and all kinds of public transport. The campus itself is a large garden with all the equipment a city can have, from opticians to pharmacies, as well as several recreational and rest areas. The university has good facilities and offers endless sports and cultural activities.
The much smaller campus of Gandía is located a few meters from the beach of Gandia, one of the best national beaches. It is comfortable and living on the beach of Gandia during the course (not during summer) is very cheap and very comfortable, with renovated apartments with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and terrace for 300 euros per month. Obviously, the campus is not as impressive as Vera’s but it is newer and its facilities are magnificent. To study Audiovisual Communication, despite the complaints during the course, compared to other universities is clearly superior.
First, for the material. Secondly, because among mediocre teachers there are many very good ones. Finally, there is much more practice than in other universities, in addition to subjects such as animation in 2D and 3D that are not taught in other campuses.
As for the practices, nothing remarkable except one thing: the university treats the fellows as people. Requires companies that meet minimum conditions, such as schedule, register in the SS and minimum salary (€ 100).
Of course, there is always a teacher who should not be a teacher and there are many things to be polished, but it is undoubtedly one of the best options for studying in Spain.
