Both personal and academic opinion UEM

First of all, UEM is a private university which has created quite a bit of prestige in recent years. It is a fairly complete university on a general level and has two campuses in the city of Madrid. One campus in Alcobendas (north of the city, on the outskirts) and another in Villaviciosa de Odon (east of the city, on the outskirts). I am currently studying at the Villaviciosa de Odon campus. It should be noted that no campus is located in the centre of the city.

Now, I will tell you my personal and academic opinion in the most honest way possible so that you can see all the pros and cons that you could have when making decisions about whether or not you want to study in it.

The campus, facilities and university life:
UEM is categorized as one of the most multicultural and international universities in the city of Madrid and that creates a pleasant and interesting atmosphere on campus as you meet students from all over the world.
The campus is quite complete since it has all kinds of sports facilities such as soccer, paddle tennis, tennis, basketball, gym, etc. And also if you are a new student and want to stay in the university facilities, you can do so in the residences that are available inside from the same campus, which I feel is a good option for the first year of university as an adaptation process.
The classrooms are very well prepared, have very good facilities and state-of-the-art technology.
The teachers are very well prepared and know how to use and manage all the facilities of the classrooms in order to get the most out of it when teaching classes, whether online or face-to-face.
However, it must be taken into account that if you do not want to live on campus or its surroundings (the town of Villaviciosa de Odon) and your decision is to live in the heart of Madrid, that will require a small sacrifice since it will take between 40- 60 min to the university by public transport. (It would be another case if you have or have a car or motorcycle) since the university has free parking for students within it.

Now let’s talk a little about the administrative level and the costs;

It is true that because it is a private university, the costs are much higher than usual compared to a public university, which in my personal opinion feels that it is overvalued a little regardless of the facilities since in the end we all go with the same purpose. what it means to study and be able to have a university degree in the future…

At the level of internal administrative management of the university, I feel that a bit of organization is needed since I have come across various inconveniences which in my opinion have been easy to solve and I notice that the staff is a bit “unprofessional” or lacks knowledge and I feel that this is a key point when managing an institution of such magnitude and prestige.

Finally, since I have entered the UEM by validation for previous studies carried out in my country of origin in the degree: business administration and management, it has caused this journey to have become a bit tedious or complicated with my studies, Since they wouldn’t let me enrol in all the subjects I wanted for the simple fact that they weren’t available in the semester I was studying and I wanted to enrol in those subjects, I feel that it is a bit inappropriate given how big and prestigious the university is. This has resulted in me graduating in more time than I had planned… there were semesters in which I could only enrol 2-3 subjects and another 5-6, so that is part of the lack of professionalism at the administrative level in which I previously focused. As I also experienced inconveniences with my registration due to errors or misunderstandings made by them…

This does not mean that it can happen to everyone, but I feel that some improvements are needed on the internal side of both this university and many in Madrid… and I also feel that a bit of honesty is needed when making offers or promotions so that students want to study in them… “talk less, do more”
In the end, it is true that it is up to each person to decide where they want to study based on their needs and desires, and that must always be respected!

I hope my opinion will be useful to future students!

All the best!
