Good atmosphere, but mixed teaching quality.

I spent four to five years at UMA, and although I left a few years ago without finishing my degree, I wanted to share an honest perspective.
The Good:
The overall environment was very respectful. For the most part, students, professors, and staff were always willing to help.
There were plenty of facilities to study using electronic devices. The cafeteria deserves a special mention: it was always clean, the food was delicious, and the prices were very affordable.
The university promotes culture and inclusion quite well. In my time, we had a lot of Korean exchange students and even a “Korea Corner,” which deeply fostered cooperation and cultural exchange.
The Bad:
There was a total lack of active campus life. There were no real incentives or extracurricular activities to encourage students to hang out after class. Collaboration between different faculties was almost non-existent.
While many professors were understanding, some had absurd demands. I had to endure professors making us stay double the time in class (forcing us to attend other groups’ hours) simply because students didn’t openly protest.
My experience during the pandemic was particularly frustrating. Due to a very poor internet connection, I struggled to attend online classes. Despite proving my technical difficulties to a faculty member, the university failed to mediate. Some strict professors even suggested I travel for an in-person exam during full lockdown instead of offering alternatives like essays. Due to these misunderstandings and rigid rules, I failed several subjects, which eventually led to my decision to drop out.
Conclusion:
Would I recommend it? Yes, overall I do. However, keep in mind that it is not the most accommodating university when it comes to flexibility.
