The aerospace engineering bachelor’s degree is located at the ESI, on the Puerto Real campus, not in Cádiz (capital of the region).
The ESI is a relatively new building where all UCA engineering courses are located, and the professors are relatively young and give a broad vision of the aerospace world. The degree has two specialisations: Aircraft, and Aerospace Materials and Equipment.
The subjects of the last branch are highly recommended due to the proximity of nearby factories and laboratories, which provide industry professionals as teachers of the subjects, giving a really close view to the industry.
The building is located about 5 minutes walk from the main campus, in the middle of the Los Toruños Natural Park, a nice place to walk between classes and relax. Another great facility of the ESI is its specialised engineering library, which provides a pleasant place to study and work in its workrooms. The canteen has a nice friendly familiar treatment.
In addition, there are many clubs and technical equipment for external activities. For the year 2021, the university has a CubeSat project, formula-student and moto-student teams.
But not everything is gold, the ESI is relatively poorly connected by public transport, and the car park sometimes fills up quickly, especially in winter. Also, Puerto Real is 20 minutes away from Cádiz by bus, which means that you have to choose between the town of Puerto Real to live in, a nice and quiet place to study, but with not much to do, or Cádiz, with more travel time but more activities available.
The university also does not always provide the resources for student initiatives, and the university campuses are spread throughout the region, which sometimes makes it difficult for students to interact. The national and international mobility is fine, but with not too many destinations and sometimes with problems for the subject validation.
All in all, a good place to study, with plenty of good weather throughout the year and great beaches to relax on.
