What Is an Economics Degree?

Are you passionate about the business and finance sector? Do you follow the national and international news? Then, an Economics degree is the answer. It has always been one of the most sought-after degrees amongst youth.

Economics degrees are designed to tackle all the issues that have an impact on financial situations, ranging from production to how resources are used. Candidates are trained to understand how the economy suffers fluctuations based on the market’s needs and wants followed by the market’s supply and demand.

By far one of the most crucial elements is that economics is divided into microeconomics and macroeconomic. Microeconomics deals with the economic behaviour at an individual level (companies, buyers, sellers and others), whilst macroeconomics illustrates the bigger picture, on a national or global scale (unemployment, economic growth, inflation and so on).

Benefits of an Economics Degree

Having an economics degree increases anyone’s chances to find a job, regardless of the field. This is mainly due to the fact that graduates hold many transferable abilities, such as analytical and problem-solving skills, that are suitable for any career.

A study made by the London School of Economics and Political Science showed that graduates from an economics course have a starting salary of £33,000 per year. Having a job in the field right after graduation is a major positive aspect and comes with a lot of opportunities for career advancement.

Economics Degree Structure

Economics degrees are usually a three years commitment and sometimes are offered as part of a joint degree. This means that Economics can be studied along with another subject such as engineering, management, law, computer science and others.

This degree can be found either as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Arts (BA). The BSc focuses more on economical theory and statistical techniques, while BA is combined with social sciences and qualitative modules.

Worse school you can imagine! Stay AWAY

Hi guys! I am currently a student at EAE Madrid doing Finance and if you have 1 great decision to make in your entire life, staying as far away from these thieves as possible would be your best bet.

They sell a GREAT story when trying to get you into the school, however these incredible marketing professionals and salespeople have actually nothing to do with the school. They are outsourced and get paid per student they bring in.
I started on November 3rd with very high hopes and much motivation soon to realize I have fallen into the trap so many have fallen for already (if you read the REAL reviews, you’d see just that). They claim that small classes with business professionals will be your habitat for a year and the professors have real-life experience.

NOT TRUE! If you follow the master in English, good luck trying to even understand your professors. They are all Spanish and cant even make 1 grammatically correct sentence if you could even understand the words coming out, that is. Online infrastructure is worse than worse. Their Wi-Fi is so bad that most of the online class lags or the microphone is not connected or the teacher forgot to record the class (for the millionth time). Many English native classmates cannot even understand the professor. Something is wrong then, right?

As a class have sent a letter to the school board about 2 weeks in and have yet to hear back from them! If I look around in the class I’d say 90% of the students would not have made this decision if they’d knew what they know now. Many have tried to get refunded for this absolute rip-off however the school just declines to give it back. Even though so many complain and they do nothing they seem to always get away with it. They all hang in there because otherwise it is a waste of time and money once they realized how badly they have been scammed.

The wonderful career talks and professionals they try to sell are all in Spanish. Over 80% of the company talks are in Spanish. Internships in this multinationals are only in SPAIN and they ALL require you to speak Spanish. So do not believe what they sell, it is simply not true.

This institution should be ashamed for how they do business and how they rip-off so many people paying sooo much money for this ”education”.

I have spoken to students from different master programs and can guarantee it is a problem everyone faces. not even 1/20 students are happy with being there but feel like they are trapped cause they loose their investment if they quit and still do not have that diploma.

Tuition varies from where you are from. Europeans pay the most. This year this came to € 15 000 with a discount between 5-20% (which they ALWAYS give) resulting in around 12k, and student from the Americas will pay around 8k after discounts. EVERYBODY gets these discounts and will pay based on their origin.

Do not let them fool you like they fooled me, my classmates and over 80% of the students currently ”studying” at EAE Business school.

Have you also been in contact with master students in Barcelona? I was about to sign up for their master of supply chain management but I have my doubts now. I also tried to see the blog but link says it is offline now.
